Founding Partner – Judi Brandson
After 20 years of caring for clients and their families in Durham Region, our founding partner, Judi Brandson, is enjoying a well-earned retirement from the practice of midwifery.
Judi received her Bachelor of Health Sciences in Midwifery from Ryerson University in 2001. She spent her first year of practice working at Caring Hands Midwifery in Alliston, Ontario, but was troubled that there were no hospitals offering midwife-managed births in Durham Region, her home community. Rising to meet that need, she submitted a business plan to the Ministry of Health to open a clinic in Oshawa and to work toward hospital privileges for midwives at both Lakeridge Health and Northumberland Hills Hospital.
Community Care Midwives opened in February 2003.
Judi continued to be instrumental in the integration of midwives and midwifery care into both Lakeridge Health and Northumberland Hills Hospitals. In 2015, she became the first Corporate Division Head of Midwifery at Lakeridge Health.
Looking for a way to continue caring for new families in her retirement, Judi completed training through the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners, and is now an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Judi offers prenatal breastfeeding education to families, and private consultations with new parents.
We wish Judi the best in all her retirement endeavours.

In Memoriam
Linda Fleming passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday October 21st, 2020
after a brief but brave battle with cancer. Kind, funny, selfless, and caring are all words that come to mind
when thinking of Linda. She served countless women in this community and delivered hundreds of babies
throughout her ten year career here at Community Care Midwives. She was not only our colleague but a dear friend.
We feel her loss greatly and she will be deeply missed.
