8 Week Vaccinations
Midwives are frequently asked questions about the choices surrounding vaccinations for
their babies. Vaccinations are outside the midwifery scope of practice and our college
does not support midwives providing informed choice discussion about this topic. To fill
this gap, Community Care Midwives have partnered with a naturopath to help clients
understand the role of vaccinations in your child’s health.
These days, parents are beginning to ask questions about the vaccines their children
will routinely receive throughout their lifetime. getting honest, candid and unbiased
answers can be very difficult. Information found online is often erroneous and biased,
good books can be hard to locate and many health care practitioners will only provide
their own views which are often biased. Dr. Broadfoot offers bi-monthly vaccination
seminars to help parents understand the issues behind the vaccines. Topics covered
● Vaccination schedules, vaccine names and the diseases being vaccinated against
● The risks associated with the diseases vaccinated against
● The risks and benefits of the various vaccinations used
● Possible (speculative) vaccine side effects
● Strategies to help the body effectively integrate vaccinations
● Identifying risk factors when vaccinating
● Alternative vaccination schedules
Seminar participants are kept to 5 or less couples in order to facilitate discussion and to
ensure that all questions are answered. it is an informed, unbiased, discussion based
seminar to help parents sort through myths and realities in order to make the best
decisions for their children.
To register or request the date of the next seminar, please contact the Community Care
Midwives at (905)-723-6088 or Erin Broadfoot ND, BSc at (905) 259-2858.
